The Wawona community is located in the South Fork of the Merced River
valley at about 4,500’ elevation. The
average low temp in January is ~ 28 F, while the average high in July is ~ 85
F. Summer nights cool rapidly once the sunsets
and may justify a light sweater after dark.
Average precipitation is ~ 38” and average snowfall ~ 52”. There are ~ 268 “mostly sunny” days per year. Snow can fall as early as November and as
late as April. These months may also
deliver days with temperatures in the 70’s.
Summers are consistently warm and dry with the occasional thunder storm.
